What are the Bronze Quill Awards?
IABC/Austin is the Austin area's premier association for business communicators. The chapter's annual Bronze Quill Awards promote personal and professional growth and recognize excellence in the field of business communication.
The Bronze Quill Awards are an opportunity to have your work evaluated by expert out-of-market judges to see how it compares with the work of your peers. The program also promotes professional growth and is a hallmark of excellence in business communication.
Do you need to be an IABC/Austin member to submit an entry?
No. The Bronze Quill Award program is open to all communications professionals including agencies, nonprofits, corporations and freelancers. IABC/Austin members do receive a discounted entry fee.
Join IABC/Austin on or before the submission deadline to benefit from member rates. For details, contact Joceylyn Sexton, VP of membership.
What are the benefits of entering?
The Bronze Quill award program is a great opportunity for professional growth and acknowledgment. The program recognizes your work, shows how it compares with your peers, increases your credibility in the field and at work, and demonstrates your communication creativity and strategic planning skills.
Winning a Bronze Quill is recognition you completed some of the best business communications in Austin.

Can I submit several different entries?
You may submit as
many different entries as you wish. A separate entry form must be submitted with
each entry. One payment may cover multiple entries.
Can I enter the same entry more than once?
You may submit
the same entry in as many divisions as appropriate, but in only one category in
a division. Tailor your work plan to fit each category you enter. Submit a
separate entry form for each entry, and submit the appropriate entry fee
total.
Can I list two entrants on my entry?
List only one
entrant and the entrant's company on the entry form. If your entry wins an
award, you will have the opportunity to order additional awards for the other
principals.
How do judges score the entries?
Your work sample(s) and
work plan are each worth 50 percent of your score. At least two judges will
evaluate each entry according to the criteria listed under each category.
How will you notify winners?
Winners will be notified by
mail in mid-May. At that time, winners will need to prepare a mounted version of
their winning entry for display at the awards banquet. Work samples and work
plans must be mounted to a 15-by-20-inch black mounting board with a copy of the
entry form attached to the back of each board. Larger entries must be mounted on
an appropriately sized board or two 15-by-20-inch boards.
What happens to my entries?
All winning entries will be
on display at the Bronze Quill 2010 awards banquet
on June 3, 2010.
If you wish to keep your entry, please retrieve it at the close of the
event.
